Answers

The same answers the app gives you — press ? in the top bar to search them there.

If none of these covers it, write to hello@floatchart.com. From inside the app, ? → Tell us sends the same message with the build, your window size, your plan and the last error attached — which usually saves a round trip. It never sends your board.

Where is my work saved?

In this browser as you type, and — once you are signed in — in your account a moment later. The save line beside the file name says which state it is in. A file made before you signed in stays here until you say it may go up.

Can I get my work out?

Yes, always. File ▸ Export gives the whole file as JSON, or any board as SVG, PNG or PDF. The JSON re-imports here and is documented in docs/FORMATS.md, so nothing you draw is locked in.

Who can see a link I share?

Whoever you chose when you made it. A link is either open to anyone who has it or limited to people signed in, and you pick that on the share dialog. Revoking a link stops it at once.

Does anyone at FloatChart read my boards?

No. Boards are yours; support only ever sees what you send in a report, and a report carries the kind of board and its tile count — never the board itself. The dialog shows you exactly what it will send before you send it.

Where does my board go when I use the assistant?

That depends on which key answers, and the AI dialog says which. With your own key the request goes from your browser straight to your provider and touches no server of ours. With FloatChart’s AI it goes through our proxy to the model, and is not used to train anything.

Why is the assistant greyed out?

Because nothing usable is configured yet. Either paste your own API key in the AI dialog, or ask a workspace admin to turn on FloatChart’s AI. The greyed control says which of the two applies when you hover it.

What is a file, and what is a board?

A file holds boards, the way a spreadsheet holds sheets. The tabs along the bottom are the boards in the open file; + Add board makes another. Sharing, exporting and version history all work on the file.

Can I undo something I did yesterday?

Undo covers this session. Further back than that, File ▸ Version history keeps save points — scrub the timeline to a moment, look at it, and restore it if you want it. Restoring keeps the version it replaced, so a restore is itself undoable.

How do I get someone else to work on this?

Two ways. Share a link, which is instant and needs nothing from them; or invite them to your workspace, which gives them their own account and a role. Both live under Share.

What do I get for free, and what costs money?

The free plan holds three shared files of up to five boards each, with everything on the board itself included. Paid plans lift those limits and add the hosted AI. Your account ▸ Plans lists what each one carries.

How do I cancel?

Your account ▸ Billing opens the same portal you subscribed through, where you can cancel or change plan. Your files stay yours either way — cancelling never deletes anything.

Can I put a board on our wiki or site?

Yes — Share ▸ Embed gives an iframe that renders the live board, and you can limit which sites may frame it. A shared link also unfurls with a picture in Slack, Notion and Confluence.

It looks wrong / something is stuck.

Reload first — the board is saved as you type, so nothing is lost. If it survives a reload, use Tell us: the report carries the build, your window size and the last error automatically, which is usually enough to find it.

Can I work offline?

Yes for a file already open — it lives in this browser and saves there. What needs the network is signing in, sharing, the assistant and syncing to your account, and the save line tells you when it is waiting.

Still stuck?

hello@floatchart.com. Tell us what you were doing and what happened instead; if it is a bug, reporting it from inside the app carries the details we would otherwise have to ask you for.

The full guide — every feature, in order — is in the app under ?, and the formats FloatChart reads and writes are documented so nothing you draw is locked in.
